We are investing in the existing facilities by extending and upgrading them and creating a new events venue in the sports hall for larger events and concerts. This will benefit from a stage area, a new backstage facility, new light and sound equipment and also the ability to be utilised for the occasional major functions that are presently held at The Greig.

The New Greig would include:

• New function suite;
• New multi-purpose rooms;
• New cafe bar;
• New events venue in our sports hall;
• Two new squash courts;
• Storage areas for our User Groups;
• New reception areas;
• Improved access to the riverside;
• Kitchens; and
• Ancillary facilities.  

In addition, the development would provide 40 car parking spaces on and 22 cycle spaces on site, and the ability to use neighbouring car parking facilities for our busier events.

This represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create a new community centre for Alcester, complete with state-of-the-art facilities.

The new centre would contain within it all of the facilities currently housed in the Greig Hall, but the rooms would be multi-purpose, allowing them to be transformed. With modern sprung floors in the new rooms, we can continue to host our many dance and aerobics users. We are investing in the existing facilities by upgrading them and creating a new events venue in the sports hall for larger events and concerts.

As it is, the Greig is not fulfilling its purpose, falling into disrepair and draining resources that could be better spent elsewhere These proposals would not only restore The Greig, making it fit for purpose once more, but they would also safeguard its future, ensuring is continued enjoyment by future generations.
